EVERGLADES, FLORIDA

Country - - AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL -

The southernmost tip of Florida has been preserved as a national park since 1947. Diverse habitats support a variety of wildlife. The Everglades are a refuge for such rare, endangered and threatened species as the manatee and the Florida panther. The land also hosts more than 360 species of birds. Long Pine Key, seen here at sunset, is a critical habitat for native butterflies and host plants.
