MODERATELY CHALLENGIN­G Wrap and Turn ( W&T): Slip next st pwise to RH needle. Bring yarn to RS of work between needles, then slip same st back to LH needle. Bring yarn to WS, wrapping st. Turn, leaving rem sts unworked, then beg working back in the other direction. Work to wrapped st. With RH needle, pick up wrap(s) and work wrap(s) tog with wrapped st. Sizes Pattern Notes Woman’s small (medium, large, X-large, 2X-large) Instructio­ns are given for smallest size, with larger sizes in parenthese­s. When only 1 number is given, it applies to all sizes. Cardigan is worked from the bottom up in separate pieces. Slanted bottom edges of fronts are shaped using short rows. When shaping front neck and armholes, work decreases as follows: Work k1, k2tog at beginning of right-side rows and ssk, k1 at end; work p1, ssp at beginning of wrong-side rows and p2tog at end. When shaping in lace patterns, work a yarn over only if there are enough stitches to also work the correspond­ing k2tog decrease. If not, work stitches in stockinett­e stitch. Back Cast on 109 (121, 133, 145, 157) sts. Knit 3 rows, ending with a WS row. Work in Lace Pat 1 until piece measures 15 inches, ending with a WS row. Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8 ( WS): Rows 9–12: Purl. Knit. Rep Rows 1–12 for pat. Shape Armholes Maintainin­g establishe­d lace pat throughout, bind off 7 (7, 8, 9, 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows—95 (107, 117, 127, 137) sts. At each armhole edge, dec 1 st [every row] 3 (3, 5, 7, 9) times, then [every RS row] 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) times—83 (93, 99, 103, 109) sts. Work even until armholes measure 8 (8, 81/2, 9, 9) inches, ending with a WS row. Lace Pat 2 Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (RS): (multiple of 12 sts + 7) K1, *[k2tog] twice, [yo, k1] 3 times, yo, [ssk] twice, k1; rep from * to last 6 sts, [k2tog] twice, [yo, k1] twice. Gauge 22 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st, blocked. 24 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches/10cm in lace pats, blocked. To save time, take time to check gauge. Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8 ( WS): Rows 9–12: Purl. Knit. Rep Rows 1–12 for pat. Lace Pat 3 Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (RS): (multiple of 12 sts + 7) [K1, yo] twice, [ssk] twice, k1, *[k2tog] twice, [yo, k1] 3 times, yo, [ssk] twice, k1; rep from * to end.
