EDITOR’S LETTER ® Spring is nature's way of saying, “Let's party!” An Annie’s Publication CreativeKnittingMagazine.com —Robin Williams Editor Creative Director Publishing Services Director Corrina Ferguson Brad Snow Brenda Gallmeyer Editorial Assistant Graphic Designer Senior Copy Editor Copy Editor Technical Editors Technical Artist Rose Tussing Nick Pierce Kristan Seitz Katie Thacker Jodi Lewanda, Charlotte Quiggle Amanda Joseph It is nearly springtime. Or hopefully it will be soon wherever you are. I always think of spring as a season of optimism. After the cold, gray winter we wait hopefully for all those signs that spring is coming—the green sprouts, the delicate early blossoms, the baby birds. My very favorite sign of spring is the daffodil. It just sounds like a very good reason to celebrate to me. And a knitting party sounds nice, doesn’t it? Everyone brings their favorite project, and some snacks that won’t stain your hands—no Cheetos or melty chocolates, please! Pick a location with a bunch of comfy chairs and possibly a good supply of fancy coffee drinks and we’d be all set. Who’s in? When I think spring and summer, I automatically think lace. I love lace so much. When I first started designing all I wanted to do was design lace. I love the fact that I can take “sticks and strings” and make beautiful heirloom- quality knits. It makes me feel so creative—like a yarn genius. We all want to feel like geniuses, don’t we? In this special issue of we’re all about the lace. Choosing all the gorgeous lacy projects for this issue was a total joy. There are beautiful lacy projects from lots of your favorite designers, and maybe a few that might be new to you—and me! There are also some super clever ways to use lace in garments—things that really make your knitting something spectacular. So it’s time to grab your yarn and needles and get ready to knit some lace. What beautiful lightweight and lacy things will you be knitting this spring and summer? Who is in your knitting circle? I would love to hear from you!
