Work even until front measures same as back to shoulders; leave sts on needle. Finishing Block pieces to measurements. Transfer back shoulder sts to spare needle. With RS tog, work 3-needle bind- off (see page 111) to join shoulders. Sew side seams. Neck Edging With RS facing, using smaller 16-inch needle and beg at center back neck, pick up and knit 110 (120, 126, 132, 140) sts around neck opening. Work 6 rnds in 1x1 rib. Bind off all sts loosely in pat. Armhole Edging With RS facing, using smaller 16-inch needle and beg at center of underarm, pick up and knit 106 (106, 108, 110, 112) sts around armhole. Work 6 rnds in 1x1 rib. Bind off all sts loosely in pat. Weave in all ends. Cardigan Back Work same as back of shell. Shape V-Neck & Armholes At the same time, when piece measures 15 inches, shape armhole same as back—32 (35 36, 39, 41) sts rem when all neck and armhole shaping is complete. Work even until front measures same as back. Transfer shoulder sts to holder. Right Front Note: Read ahead because V-neck and armhole shapings occur simultaneously. With larger needles, cast on 56 (56, 67, 67, 78) sts. Knit 6 rows. Work [20-row Vine Lace pat] twice. Change to St st; work even until piece measures 14 inches, ending with a WS row. Dec Row (RS): K1, k2tog, knit to end— 1 dec at neck edge.
