Creative Knitting - - CONTENTS - Design by Margret Willson

Create a woven look by simply moving the contrast color to back or front as you work in stockinette stitch. This pillow is a stunning addition to any decor.

Gauge

8 sts and 12 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st. 9 sts and 13 rows = 4 inches/10cm in Woven pat. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Special Abbreviations

With B in front (wBif): With B (weaving yarn) held in front of work as it faces you. With B in back (wBib): With B (weaving yarn) held in back of work as it faces you.

Special Technique

Weaving: Woven fabric is worked with 2 yarns: the working yarn and the weaving yarn. All sts are made with the working yarn; the weaving yarn is taken to the front or back of fabric as instructed to create the woven pat, but it’s never used to make a st. To change the position of the weaving yarn, bring it between the needles (either to the front or back of the work as it faces you) as indicated. Twist colors A and B at beg of each weaving row to anchor weaving yarn. At end of each weaving row, adjust tension of B if necessary. It should neither sag nor pucker, but lie evenly across color A sts.

Pattern Notes

Twist colors A and B at beginning of each weaving row to anchor weaving yarn. Circular needle is used so that stitches are not bunched up during tension adjustment; do not join. When necessary to cut and rejoin B, leave a 6-inch tail for weaving in.

A chart is provided for those preferring to work woven pattern from a chart.

Colors A and B will be reversed for 2nd side of pillow.
