16 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches/10cm in Lace pat, after block­ing. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Spe­cial Ab­bre­vi­a­tions

Wrap and Turn (W&T): Slip next st pwise to RH nee­dle. Bring yarn to RS of work be­tween nee­dles, then slip same st back to LH nee­dle. Bring yarn to WS, wrap­ping st. Turn, leav­ing rem sts un­worked, then beg work­ing back in the other di­rec­tion. To hide wraps on sub­se­quent rows: Work to wrapped st. With RH nee­dle, pick up wrap and work wrap tog with wrapped st.

Wrap 3 (W3): *Wyib, slip the next 3 sts pwise, bring yarn to front, sl 3 sts back to LH nee­dle, rep from * once more. Knit the 3 sts as you nor­mally would.

Pat­tern Notes

This vest is knit from side to side in­cor­po­rat­ing the stitch pat­tern within the body of the work. The gus­sets and arm­holes are worked over garter stitch us­ing short rows.

When work­ing across wrapped stitches, pick up wraps and work them to­gether with their ad­ja­cent stitches.

Rows 3–6: Rep [Rows 1 and 2] twice more. Row 7: Yfwd, sl 1 pwise, *k1, W3, k6; rep from * to last 6 sts, k1, W3, k2. Row 8: Yfwd, sl 1 pwise, purl to last st, k1. Make a note of how many reps (or half reps) you have com­pleted. Arm­hole & Short-Row Gus­set Rows 1 and 2: Yfwd, sl 1 pwise, yarn back, knit to end. Row 3: Yfwd, sl 1 pwise, k10 (10, 10, 15, 15), bind off 23 (25, 27, 28, 30) sts, knit to end. Row 4: Yfwd, sl 1, yarn back, knit to 5 sts be­fore the bind-off gap, W&T. Row 5: Knit to end. Row 6: Yfwd, sl 1, yarn back, knit to 5 sts be­fore the pre­vi­ously wrapped st, W&T. Row 7: Knit to end.
