Gauge

23 sts and 34 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st with larger nee­dles. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Pat­tern Stitch

2x2 Rib (mul­ti­ple of 4 sts + 2) Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end. Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end.

Pat­tern Notes

Sweater is worked from the bot­tom up in pieces and then sewn to­gether.

Wind yarn onto bob­bins and work each sec­tion with a sep­a­rate bob­bin us­ing the in­tar­sia method of knit­ting. Do not carry col­ors across the back of work.

When chang­ing col­ors in pat­tern, twist yarns on wrong side to pre­vent holes in work.

When shap­ing neck, work de­creases as fol­lows: Work k1, k2­tog at be­gin­ning of right-side rows and ssk, k1 at end.

Cir­cu­lar nee­dle is used to ac­com­mo­date large num­ber of stitches. Do not join; work back and forth in rows.

Back

Work­ing both sides at once with sep­a­rate balls of yarn, bind off at each neck edge 6 sts once, 4 sts once, then dec 1 st at each neck edge [ev­ery RS row] 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) times, and at the same time, when piece mea­sures 201/2 inches, shape shoul­ders same as for Back.

Sleeves

With smaller nee­dles and MC, cast on 114 (114, 122, 122, 126) sts.

Work in 2x2 Rib for 1 inch, end­ing with a RS row. Dec Row (WS): Purl across, dec 10 (10, 12, 12, 12) sts evenly—104 (104, 110, 110, 114) sts.

Fin­ish­ing

Block pieces to mea­sure­ments. Sew shoul­der seams. Neck Edg­ing With RS fac­ing, us­ing cir­cu­lar nee­dle and MC and beg at right shoul­der seam, pick up and knit 124 (124, 128, 128, 132) sts evenly around neck open­ing, pm for beg of rnd. Rnds 1–4: *K2, p2; rep from * around.

Bind off loosely in Rib.

Pm on front and back 9 (9, 91/2, 91/2, 10) inches down from shoul­der seams. Sew sleeves be­tween mark­ers. Beg at front/ back side mark­ers, sew side and sleeve seams, leav­ing rem open for side vents.

Weave in ends.
