First Half Cast on 5 sts. Knit 5 rows. Row 1 (RS): K3, yo, knit to end—6 sts. Row 2: Knit, knit­ting tbl of yo. Rows 3–10: Rep Rows 1 and 2—

10 sts. Row 11: K3, yo, knit to last 5 sts,

k2­tog, yo, k3—11 sts. Row 12: K3, purl across to last 3 sts,

k3. Note: Do not work yo’s tbl. Rep Rows 11 and 12 un­til there are 51 sts on nee­dle, end­ing with a WS row. Lace Cen­ter Sec­tion Row 1 (RS): K3, yo, k1, *k2­tog, yo; rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3—52 sts. Rows 2, 4 and 6: K3, purl across to

last 3 sts, k3. Row 3: K3, yo, *k2­tog, yo; rep from *

ing with a WS row. Knit 4 rows. Bind off. Weave in ends. Fringe Cut rem yarn into 71/2-inch strands. *Fold 2 strands in half. With RS fac­ing and beg at tip of 1 end, use cro­chet hook to draw folded end from RS to WS. Pull loose ends through folded sec­tion and tighten knot firmly (see page 111). Rep from *, spac­ing fringes evenly along each di­ag­o­nal side and mak­ing sure to place 1 fringe cen­tered in tip. Trim even.
