Cowl Neck With RS fac­ing, us­ing smaller 16-inch cir­cu­lar nee­dle and beg at left shoul­der, pick up and knit 88 (92, 92, 96, 100) sts evenly around neck. Turn piece around to work cowl

in­side out. Work­ing from the in­side, work Rnd 1 (now RS) of Cowl Lace Rib pat around to the beg; pm and join to work in the rnd, us­ing yarn tail to close gap at beg of rnd. Con­tinue work­ing Cowl Lace Rib pat,

work­ing 4 reps of first 6 rnds. Work Rnds 7–13 of Cowl Lace Rib pat, then rep Rnds 8–13 un­til cowl mea­sures 4 inches—110 (115, 115, 120, 125) sts. Change to larger 16-inch cir­cu­lar nee­dle; work in es­tab­lished pat un­til cowl mea­sures 7 inches, end­ing with Rnd 12. Us­ing Elas­tic Bind-Off, bind off all sts. Block again, al­low­ing ribs at base of cowl to re­main close to­gether and spread­ing out the top edge so that fab­ric is flat. Weave in ends.
