20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches/10cm in Garter Rib. To save time, take time to check gauge.

3 over 3 Right Cross (3/3 RC): Sl 3 sts to cn and hold in back; k3, k3 from cn. 3 over 3 Left Cross (3/3 LC): Sl 3 sts to cn and hold in front; k3, k3 from cn.

Pat­tern Notes

Work the dif­fer­ent-color pan­els with sep­a­rate balls of yarn, us­ing the in­tar­sia method. At each color change, bring the new color from be­low the color just used to link them to­gether and pre­vent holes.

Cir­cu­lar nee­dle is used to ac­com­mo­date the large num­ber of stitches; do not join.

The throw has an edge stitch at each side.

Throw

Bor­der With cir­cu­lar nee­dle and A, cast on 133 sts, pm; with B, cast on 88 sts—221 sts. Do not join, work back and forth in rows as fol­lows: Row 1 (RS): With B, sl 1 pwise wyif (edge st), work Garter Rib 1 to marker; with A, work Garter Rib 2 to last st, k1 (edge st). Row 2: With A, sl 1 pwise wyif (edge st), work Garter Rib 2 to marker; with B, work Garter Rib 1 to last st, k1 (edge st).

Rep [last 2 rows] 3 times. Body Setup Row (RS): With B, sl 1 pwise wyif, work Cable pat to marker; with A, work Garter Rib 2 to last st, k1.

Con­tinue as es­tab­lished un­til piece mea­sures 471/2 inches, end­ing with a Row 4 or 8. Block to fin­ished mea­sure­ments. Weave in ends.

Pil­low

With straight nee­dles and A, cast on 66 sts, pm; with B, cast on 39 sts—105 sts. Setup Row (RS): With B, work Cable pat to marker; with A, work Garter Rib 2 to end of row.

Con­tinue as es­tab­lished un­til piece mea­sures 13 inches, end­ing with a WS row.

Pm at each end of next row (for fold), then con­tinue as es­tab­lished un­til piece mea­sures 26 inches, end­ing with a WS row.

Bind off all sts in pat.

Fin­ish­ing

Block piece to mea­sure­ments. Weave in ends. Fold piece in half at side mark­ers and sew sides of pil­low tog.

Insert pil­low form and sew bound-off and cast-on edges tog.
