2 balls #4119 sea­side stripes • Peaches & Creme Cones medium (worsted) weight cot­ton yarn (14 oz/706 yds/400g per cone)

1 cone #1708 happy go lucky • Sizes F/5/3.75mm and G/6/4mm cro­chet hooks or size needed to ob­tain gauge • Ta­pes­try nee­dle • 12 metal bot­tle caps

GAUGE

Size G hook: 3 mesh = 2 inches; 4 mesh rows = 2 inches

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-5 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first dou­ble cro­chet and chain-2 un­less oth­er­wise stated.

SPE­CIAL STITCHES

Shell mesh: (Dc, ch 5, dc) in in­di­cated st or sp. Mesh: Ch 2, sk next 2 chs, dc in next ch of st.

CAP COVER

Make 4 for Small & 8 for Large.

Rnd 1 (RS): With size F hook and happy go lucky, ch 4, join

(see Pat­tern Notes) to form a ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join in beg sc. Rnd 2: Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), hdc in same st as beg ch-2, 2 hdc in each rem st, join in beg ch-2, leav­ing 16-inch length, fas­ten off. (24 hdc)

CAP ASSEM­BLY

Thread ta­pes­try nee­dle with rem length, with WS fac­ing, in­sert nee­dle through 12th st across from join­ing, in­sert cap un­der yarn, weave nee­dle back and forth across through ev­ery other hdc around edge to en­close, knot to se­cure. Fas­ten off. Thread ta­pes­try nee­dle with 16-inch length of yarn, with RS fac­ing, in­sert nee­dle un­der hdc in rnd 2 on Cap Cover, [in­sert nee­dle un­der hdc of next Cover and sew through both sts once more to se­cure. Turn piece over

(WS fac­ing) and in­sert nee­dle un­der sts across back and up through 6th hdc from join­ing be­tween Cap Cov­ers, turn piece over to RS], rep be­tween [ ] for rem Cap Cov­ers. Join for Small in 4-cap square and join for Large in rec­tan­gle of 2 caps wide x 4 caps long.

Rnd 1: With size F hook and happy go lucky and with RS of 4-cap group fac­ing, make slip

ring (see il­lus­tra­tion) on hook, yo, in­sert hook in top right cor­ner 9th hdc from join­ing, work ( fpdc— see Stitch Guide, ch 5, fpdc) around same st, *[ch 2, sk 2 sts, fpdc around next hdc] twice, ch 2, sk over join­ing be­tween caps, sk 2 hdc, fpdc around next hdc, ch 2, sk next 2 hdc, fpdc around next hdc, ch 2, sk next 2 hdc**, (fpdc, ch 5, fpdc) around next hdc, rep from * 3 times, end­ing last rep at **, join in beg fpdc. (24 mesh)

Rnd 2: With size G hook, ch 5 (see Pat­tern Notes), [ shell mesh (see Spe­cial Stitches) in 3rd ch of

cial Stitches) across edge, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (32 mesh)

Rnd 4: Ch 5, dc in next dc, work 1 mesh, [shell mesh in 3rd ch of ch-5 sp, work 10 mesh across edge, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. Fas­ten off. (48 mesh)
