PAT­TERN NOTES

Throw is worked from left to right and bot­tom to top in di­ag­o­nal rows. Use size I hook un­less oth­er­wise stated. Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Row 2 es­tab­lishes pat­tern stitch. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-3 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated.

THROW

BLOCK 1

Row 1 (RS): With size I hook and dusty blue, form a slip knot

(see illustration), ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch] 3 times, turn. (4 sc,

3 ch-1 sps)

Row 2 (pat­tern st): Ch 1, sc in first sc, [ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc] 3 times, turn.

Rows 3–7: Rep row 2. At the end of row 7, fas­ten off.

BLOCK 2

Row 1 (RS): With size I hook and tof­fee, form a slip knot, ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch] twice, ch 1, sk 1 ch, join (see Pat­tern Notes) to row 1 of Block 1, turn and work re­main­der of Block as row 2 of Block 1, join rows 3, 5 and 7 to cor­re­spond­ing rows of Block 1, ch 1.

Note: Tie slip knot end of Block 2 to foun­da­tion ch of Block 1. Work this on all first Blocks of di­ag­o­nal row, join­ing to pre­vi­ous Block.

BLOCK 3

Work in pat­tern st across top of Block 1 for 7 rows.

BLOCK 4

With Kelly green, work as for Block 2, join to cor­re­spond­ing rows same as Block 2 (rows 1,

3, 5 and 7), ch 1.

BLOCK 5

Work pat­tern st across top of Block 2, join­ing to cor­re­spond­ing rows of Block 3, ch 1.

BLOCK 6

Work in pat­tern st across top of Block 3 for 7 rows. Fas­ten off.

BLOCKS 7–10

Be­gin­ning with Block 7, with sil­ver blue, work 4 blocks across, as es­tab­lished with Block 2. Us­ing Place­ment Di­a­gram as a guide, con­tinue work­ing Blocks across on the di­ag­o­nal al­ter­nat­ing colors dusty blue, tof­fee, Kelly green and sil­ver blue un­til there are 5 reps of each color. With sap­phire work 21 blocks. Fas­ten off.

Note: To­tal 21 Blocks bot­tom width, 21 Blocks up left edge and 21 sap­phire Blocks on the di­ag­o­nal.

STRIPE 1

Row 1: Draw up a lp of dusty blue in first sc of row 7 of cor­ner sap­phire Block, work Block in pat­tern st across top of sap­phire Block at right bot­tom edge, join to Block at left in rows 1, 3, 5 and 7. Fas­ten off.

STRIPE 2

Draw up lp of tof­fee in first sc of last row of dusty blue Stripe 1, ch 1, work pat­tern st across for 7 rows, work­ing ch 1 over join­ing seam of row 1 (8 sc, 7 ch-1 sps) and join to cor­re­spond­ing rows of sap­phire Block to the left. At the end of row 7, fas­ten off.

STRIPES 3–20

Us­ing Place­ment Di­a­gram as a guide for color place­ment, al­ways work­ing ch 1 over join­ing seam on row 1, con­tinue work­ing stripes across al­ter­nat­ing colors of dusty blue, tof­fee, Kelly green and sil­ver blue across un­til there are 20 rows of stripes com­pleted.

BORDER

Join chocolate on top left side in last row of sil­ver blue Block, ch 1, sc in same row as beg ch-1, sc in end of each row to bot­tom, end­ing with (sc, ch 2, sc) in bot­tom left cor­ner ch, sc in each ch and ch-1 sp across bot­tom, end­ing with (sc, ch 2, sc) in last cor­ner ch at bot­tom right; A. work­ing up right edge, sc in end of each row, end­ing with (sc, ch 2, sc) in cor­ner ch-2 sp, work­ing across top, sc in each of next 6 sts (sc or ch-1 sps), sk next ch-1 sp, [sc in each of next 7 sts, sk next ch-1 sp] 18 times; B. sc in next 7 sts and in last 6 sts of last cor­ner Block, (sc, ch 2, sc) in cor­ner sc, sc in each rem row of left side, join in beg sc.
