PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses un­less oth­er­wise noted. Be­fore seam­ing sleeves, dry­block the fin­ished rec­tan­gle with spray starch and a warm iron. Join with slip stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-3 at be­gin­ning of row does not count as a stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated.

SPE­CIAL STITCH

Fan stitch (Fan st): Cast on 8 lps (see photo tu­to­rial ar­ti­cle

on pages 34 and 35), in­sert the hook into the des­ig­nated ch or st, yo and bring up a lp, yo, hold­ing the cast on lps by the twists at the bot­tom, draw the yarn through all lps on hook, ch 1 to close.

Leav­ing a 12- to 15-inch-long tail for sleeve join­ing, ch 32 [34, 36, 38, 40, 42].

Row 1: 1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook (sk ch does not count as st) and each ch across, turn. (31 [33, 35, 37, 39, 41] hdc) Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pat­tern Notes), fan st (see Spe­cial Stitch) in first hdc, *ch 2, sk next hdc, fan st in next hdc; rep from * across, turn. (16 [17, 18, 19, 20, 21] fan sts, 15 [16, 17, 18, 19, 20] ch-2 sps)

Rows 3–38 [3–40, 3–42, 3–44,

3–46, 3–46]: Ch 3, sk first fan st, fan st in next ch-2 sp, *ch 2, sk next fan st, fan st in next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, ch 2, sk last fan st, fan st in top of beg ch-3, turn. SLEEVES

Block (see Pat­tern Notes) rec­tan­gle. Fold length­wise and seam, in fa­vorite seam­ing method, through the first and last 8 [8,8, 9, 9, 9] fan rows on each end to form sleeves, leav­ing cen­ter open for Bodice and Col­lar. Fas­ten off.

BODICE & COL­LAR

Place mark­ers in 2 seamed fan sts at each un­der­arm seam. Rnd 1 (RS): Right side fac­ing,

join (see Pat­tern Notes) yarn in left marked st of any pair of marked sts, ch 1, 2 hdc in marked st, *work 42 [46, 50, 56, 61, 68] hdc evenly across row edges to next marker*, 2 hdc in each of next 2 marked sts, rep be­tween *, 2 hdc in last marked st, do not join. (92 [100, 108, 120, 130, 144] hdc) Rnd 2: Ch 3, fan st in first hdc, *ch 3, sk next hdc, fan st in next hdc; rep from * around, sk last hdc, do not join. (46 [50, 54, 60, 65, 72] fans, 46 [50, 54, 60, 65, 72] ch-3 sps) Rnds 3–6 [3–7, 3–7, 3–8, 3–8, 3–9]: Ch 3, fan st in ch sp at beg of last rnd, *ch 3, fan st in next ch-3 sp; rep from * around, do not join. At end of fi­nal rnd, ch 3, join in clos­ing lp of first fan.

Cuff Edg­ing

Join yarn in seam at cuff.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, *2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in next st; rep from * around, 2 hdc in next 1 [0,2, 1, 0, 2] st(s), join in first st. Fas­ten off. (122 [132, 136, 146, 156, 160] hdc) Rep for other cuff. Lightly block if needed.
