size needed to obtain gauge • Pins or clips • Tapestry needle • 16-inch square pillow form • 13/4-inch Crafting With Buttons #470002223 Black Chevron buttons by Blumenthal Lansing: 3

GAUGE

6 sts = 4 inches; 6 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

PATTERN STITCH

Row 1: Ch 1, [sc in dc, dc in sc] across row, turn. Rep row 1 for pattern st.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join): Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.

BACK

Row 1 (RS): With green, ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [dc in next ch, sc in next ch] across, ending with dc in last ch. (12 sc, 12 dc) Rows 2–25: Work in Pattern Stitch, fasten off.

Lower Front

Row 1 (RS): With green, ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [dc in next ch, sc in next ch] across, ending with dc in last ch. (12 sc, 12 dc) Rows 2–10: Work in Pattern Stitch, fasten off at end of last row. Row 11: With RS facing, sc join (see Special Stitch) black, work in Pattern Stitch. Row 12: Work in Pattern Stitch. Row 13 (Buttonhole Row): Work Pattern Stitch over 4 sts, [ch 2, sk 2 sts, Pattern Stitch over 5 sts] 2 times, ch 2, sk 2 sts, Pattern Stitch to end of row.

Rows 14 & 15: Work in Pattern Stitch, fasten off.

Upper Front
