PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Do not join un­less oth­er­wise in­di­cated. Place stitch marker on last stitch of round and move as work pro­gresses. Only front of Hot Pad has a chart. Each square on chart equals 1 split sin­gle cro­chet.

Rnd 1 (RS): With wine, ch 85, us­ing care not to twist ch, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first ch, ch 1, sc in same ch as beg ch-1, work­ing in back bar of ch (see il­lus­tra­tion) sc in each ch around to last ch, hdc in last ch, change color (see Stitch Guide) to ecru, mark hdc with st marker (see Pat­tern Notes) as last st. (85 sts) Rnd 2: Split sc (see Spe­cial Stitch) in each st around. Rnd 3: Rep rnd 2. Rnds 4–48: Split sc in each st as in­di­cated in chart (see Pat­tern

FIN­ISH­ING

Block Hot Pad with im­age at cen­ter front. Work­ing in back

lps (see Stitch Guide) with a length of wine, sew top and bot­tom edges closed. CW

Worked in the round, the split sin­gle cro­chet stitch gives this hot pad a knit­ted look and makes it ex­tra thick.
