The Secret Stitch

Crochet World - - Croche T World Then & Now - Reviewed by reader Laura H.

Anticipation, design, craft and creativity are all aspects of the creative craft of crochet.

When you find those same ideas in a novel that involves crochet as a “thread” throughout the story, it’s a bonus all the way! Historical fiction, well-rounded characters, interesting plot and a free pattern at the end of the book make this an enticing read!

The setting is 1720, and Ailee Donaghue is on her way to the new world with a new husband to begin a new life. Twists and turns lead her to an unexpected conclusion. Throughout the tale she is trying to figure out how to create a cowl that she sees on a sailor onboard the ship to the new world that is thought to keep the wearer not only warm but safe from harm.

Here’s where the anticipation gets good—I was ready to read the second story as soon as I finished the first!
