PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated.

SPE­CIAL STITCHES

Beginning V-stitch (beg V-st): Dc in 5th ch from hook. V-stitch (V-st): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in in­di­cated st.

Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in in­di­cated ch sp.

HEAD­BAND

With black, ch 101, sc in 2nd ch from hook in

back

bar of ch (see illustration), sc in each back bar of each rem ch across, do not turn. (100 sc)

Rnd 2: Now work­ing around the top of foun­da­tion ch of row 1, sc in each of next 100 chs on each side of foun­da­tion ch, join in first sc. Place marker in last st of rnd 2. (200 sc) Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as beg ch-1, sc in each rem sc around, join in beg sc. Fas­ten off. (201 sc) Sew first half of size 3 snap fas­tener to end of Head­band. Try on Head­band, mark band for place­ment of rem half of snap fas­ten­ers, sew rem half to Head­band. Sew an­other size 3 snap fas­tener 7 inches from end of head­band. Rem half of snap fas­tener will be sewn to cen­ter back of Head­band Flower. Block Head­band only.

Row 1: With gar­net, ch 50, beg V-st (see Spe­cial Stitches), [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st (see Spe­cial Stitches) in next ch] 15 times, turn. (16 V-sts)

Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pat­tern Notes),

shell (see Spe­cial Stitches) in ch-2 sp of V-st, [ch 1, shell in next ch-2 sp of V-st] 15 times, turn. (15 shells)

Row 3: Ch 3, [10 tr in ch-2 sp of shell, sc in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 8 times, [6 hdc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] twice, 6 hdc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sk 2 dc, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fas­ten off. With a length of gar­net, roll Flower up and se­cure foun­da­tion ch to main­tain po­si­tion of pe­tals. Sew rem half of snap fas­tener to cen­ter back of Flower. Sew dec­o­ra­tive but­ton to cen­ter of Flower.

Row 3: Ch 2, [10 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fas­ten off.

2nd Flower

Row 1: With dark ma­genta, ch 29, beg V-st, [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st in next ch] 8 times, turn. (9 V-sts)

Row 2: Ch 2, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of V-st, sl st in ch-1 sp] 8 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of V-st, sl st in next ch of beg ch-5. Fas­ten off. Hold­ing dark ma­genta Flower on top of ma­genta Flower, with a length of ma­genta, roll Flow­ers up and se­cure foun­da­tion ch to main­tain po­si­tion of pe­tals. Sew size 4 snap fas­tener to cen­ter back of Flower and Cap. Sew dec­o­ra­tive but­ton to cen­ter of Flower.

FLIP-FLOP FLOW­ERS

Row 3: Ch 2, [10 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fas­ten off. With a length of rose, roll each Flower up and se­cure foun­da­tion ch to main­tain po­si­tion of pe­tals. At­tach size 3 snap fas­tener to cen­ter back of each Flower and to cen­ter front of flip-flops. Sew dec­o­ra­tive but­ton to cen­ter of each flower.
