Sew last 3 sts to sts di­rectly be­low in body. Weave in yarn ends and trim. EYES Re­fer­ring to man­u­fac­turer’s in­struc­tions, pre­pare the 4 felt cir­cles for at­tach­ing eyes. To cre­ate an open­ing large enough to insert the rod part of safety eye, cut a small X in cen­ter of the cir­cles. Ap­ply glue to back of char­treuse cir­cles and place in cen­ters of yel­low cir­cles. Insert safety eyes in felt cir­cles. For eye place­ment: The in­ner sides of yel­low cir­cles are next to fore­head feath­ers and the bot­tom edge of cir­cles are even with the row be­low the bot­tom of the fore­head feath­ers. Put a mark with felt tip marker in each st that each eye will be in­serted. Ap­ply glue to backs of yel­low cir­cles, insert eyes and at­tach washer to back of each eye. Stuff owl with fiber­fill. BEAK Rnd 1: With size G hook and camel, ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place marker. (3 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc. (4 sc)

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc. (5 sc)

FEET Make 2. Note: The talons are cre­ated in 2 parts. Part 1 will be­come first and last toe; part 2 is the mid­dle toe. Part 1

Row 1: With size G hook and camel, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 2–4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. At the end of row 4, leav­ing a 12-inch length, fas­ten off. With rem length, with ends of rows tog, sew tog to form a tube.

Part 2

Row 1: With size G hook and camel, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 chs, turn. (3 sc)

Rows 2–4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. At the end of row 4, leav­ing a 12-inch length, fas­ten off. With rem length, with ends of rows tog, sew tog to form a tube. At­tach in­di­vid­ual toe (cre­ated in

part 2) to the 5th st of part 1.

FIN­ISH­ING

Sew Beak di­rectly un­der last 3 sts of fore­head. Sew ends of rows of feath­ers tog. Slip on base form with sewn seam at cen­ter back. The top edge is sewn to row 2 be­low bot­tom of beak. Sew the bot­tom of the feath­ers to body form. Ear tufts are sewn to body next to the widest part of the fore­head. Fold tufts in half. Pass nee­dle through st at op­po­site side of body. Sew a tuft on each side of fore­head. For talons, [cut 11/2-inch length of black thread. Pass through end of a toe. Twist ends tog. Bend it around a cro­chet hook to cre­ate curved end for the talon] 6 times cre­at­ing a talon on each toe. Sew feet to bot­tom of body.
