PAT­TERN NOTES

Shawl is made from Mo­tifs that are worked and joined into Strips us­ing join- as- you go tech­nique. Each Strip con­tains a dif­fer­ent num­ber of Mo­tifs. The com­pleted Strips are then joined us­ing join- as- you go tech­nique. Filler Mo­tifs are worked into the spa­ces be­tween the Flower Mo­tifs. Chain- 3 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain- 8 at be­gin­ning of round counts as first dou­ble cro­chet and chain- 5 un­less oth­er­wise stated. Re­fer to Assem­bly Di­a­gram for color and place­ment of Flower Mo­tifs, num­ber of Flower Mo­tifs to make for each Strip, and place­ment of Strips.

SHAWL Strip 1 Flower Mo­tif

Rnd 1: With metal­lic pur­ple, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 ( see Pat­tern Notes), 15 dc in ring, join ( see Pat­tern Notes) in 3rd ch of beg ch- 3. ( 16 dc) Rnd 2: Ch 8 ( see Pat­tern Notes), [dc in next dc, ch 5] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch- 8. ( 16 ch- 5 sps) Rnd 3: Ch 1, sl st in first ch- 5 sp, ch 1, sc in same ch- 5 sp, ch 3, [ sc in next ch- 5 sp, ch 3] around, join in beg sc. ( 16 ch- 3 sps) Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first ch- 3 sp, ( 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch- 3 sp, [ sc in next ch- 3 sp, ( 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch- 3 sp] around, join in beg sc. Fas­ten off. Work as for First Strip Flower Mo­tif.

Make 2. Rnds 1–3: Re­fer­ring to Assem­bly Di­a­gram for colors ( see Pat­tern Notes), rep rnds 1– 3 of First Flower Mo­tif. Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first ch- 3 sp, [ 4 dc in next ch- 3 sp, Mo­tif join ( see Spe­cial Stitch), 4 dc in same ch- 3 sp, sc in next ch- 3 sp] twice, ( 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch- 3 sp, [ sc in next ch- 3 sp, ( 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch- 3 sp] around, join in beg sc. Fas­ten off. ( 8 sc, 6 ch- 2 sps, 2 sl st joins)

Strips 3–6 Work rem Strips in same man­ner as Strip 2, mak­ing as many Rem Flower Mo­tifs as re­quired and join­ing Mo­tifs as shown in Assem­bly Di­a­gram.

Strip Bor­ders & Join­ing

Strip 6 Bor­der Rnd 1: With RS fac­ing, join metal­lic dark pur­ple with sc in same sp as first Mo­tif join on top right,* ch 4, sc in next sc, [ch 4, ( 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch- 2 sp, ch 4, sc in next sc] twice,
