Row 4: With grape, work lps off hook, do not turn. Row 5 (buttonhole): With grape, pull up lp under each of next 4 horizontal bars, yo, sk next horizontal bar ( buttonhole), pick up lp under each of next 6 horizontal bars, yo, sk next horizontal bar ( buttonhole), pull up lp in each of last 4 horizontal bars ( 17 lps on hook), slide lps to opposite end of hook, turn. Row 6: With lavender, work lps off hook, do not turn. Row 7: Rep row 3. Row 8: Rep row 4. Row 9: With grape, rep row 3. Rows 10–146: [ Rep rows 6– 9 consecutively] 35 times, ending last rep with row 6. Row 147: With grape, sl st in top strand of each horizontal bar across, turn. Edging Working around outer edge in sts and in ends of rows, with grape and size I hook, ch 2, cl ( see Special Stitch) in same st as beg ch- 2, [ sk next 2 sts, ( sl st, ch 2, cl) in next st] across, working in ends of rows, [ sk next row, ( sl st, ch 2, cl) in next row] across, working in foundation ch on opposite side of row 1, [ sk next 2 chs, ( sl st, ch 2, cl) in next ch] across, working in ends of rows, [ sk next row, ( sl st, ch 2, cl) in next row] across, join with sl st in base of beg ch- 2. Fasten off.
Finishing With sewing thread and sewing needle, sew 1 flat button to each shank button. To Wear Decide how you want to wear your Neck Warmer as shown in photos. Lap buttonholes over rem end to locate placement for buttons. Slide flat buttons between sts, leaving shank button on top.
