PAT­TERN NOTES

Afghan is worked length­wise from one side to the other with right side fac­ing at all times. 4- inch tails at be­gin­ning and end of each row will be­come Fringe. Work tre­ble cro­chet stitches around tails at be­gin­ning and end of pre­vi­ous row to en­case them.

SPE­CIAL STITCHES

Sin­gle cro­chet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, in­sert hook in in­di­cated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Tre­ble cro­chet join (tr join): Place slip knot on hook, yo 2 times, in­sert hook in in­di­cated st, yo and pull up a lp, [yo and draw through 2 lps] twice, yo and draw through rem 2 lps. Shell: 3 dc in in­di­cated ch-2 sp.

FIN­ISH­ING

Block to mea­sure­ments.

Fringe

Cut 5 9- inch- long strands of mid­night heather. Fold 1 strand in half. In­sert hook from WS to RS be­tween first 2 sts of any cor­ner, pull fold through to form a lp, pull ends in­clud­ing any beg or end tail through lp and tighten. Rep to add Fringe be­tween first 2 sts at each cor­ner, pulling any beg or end tail through lp. Rep to add Fringe to top of beg ch- 4 of row 1, omit­ting ref­er­ence to beg or end tail. Beg with last Fringe made and tail of row 2, at the end of each row, tie each pair of tails tog with an over­hand knot. Trim ends evenly.
