In pat­tern: 16 sts = 33/4 inches; 10 rows = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in ends as work pro­gresses. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of row does not count as first stitch un­less other­wise stated. Last stitch of each row is worked be­tween be­gin­ning chain-2 and sec­ond-to- last stitch. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less other­wise stated.

VEST Back

Row 1 (RS): Ch 72 [80, 88, 96, 104], hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (70, [78, 86, 94, 102] sts) Place marker be­tween 2 cen­ter sts of row 1 to in­di­cate cen­ter Back.

Row 2: Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), dc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar (see il­lus­tra­tion) of each st across, end­ing with dc in gap be­tween last hdc and beg ch-2 (see Pat­tern Notes), turn. Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, end­ing with hdc in gap be­tween last dc and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, dc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar in each st across, end­ing with dc in gap be­tween last hdc and beg ch-2, turn.

Rep rows 3 and 4 un­til Back measures 181/2 [201/4, 22, 241/2, 26] inches, end­ing with a row 3. Fas­ten off.

Fronts & Col­lar

Row 1: Ch 59 [61, 61, 63, 65], sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (58 [60, 60, 62, 64] sts)

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar in each st across, end­ing with dc in gap be­tween last st and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, end­ing with hdc in gap be­tween last st and beg ch-2, turn. Row 5: Ch 2, dc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar in each st across, end­ing with dc in gap be­tween last st and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across, end­ing with sc in top of beg ch-2, turn. Rep rows 2–5 un­til work measures ap­prox­i­mately 533/4 [591/4, 641/2, 711/2, 761/2] inches, end­ing with a row of sc. Fas­ten off. Mark the mid­dle row with a stitch marker to in­di­cate cen­ter of back Col­lar.

ASSEM­BLY

Line up cen­ter stitch marker from Fronts and Back; use stitch mark­ers to evenly se­cure in place and sew tog with in­vis­i­ble seam (see il­lus­tra­tion) us­ing ta­pes­try nee­dle. Mark the Back and cor­re­spond­ing edge of Front leav­ing 61/2 [ 7, 71/2, 8, 81/2] inches from top seam to mark the un­der­arm on each side. Line up the side edge to Back and se­cure with mark­ers, us­ing the ta­pes­try nee­dle to seam sides tog.

Edg­ing

Row 1: With WS fac­ing, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in bot­tom cor­ner of Front, ch 2, hdc evenly in each st across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar in each st across, end­ing with dc in gap be­tween last hdc and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, end­ing with hdc in gap be­tween last dc and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in lower hor­i­zon­tal bar in each st across, end­ing with sc in top of beg ch-2. Fas­ten off.
