In Crin­kle Pat­tern: 10 sts = 4 inches, 12 rows = 4 inches; In Side­ways Rib Pat­tern: 12 sts = 4 inches, 14 rows = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Re­fer to Stitch Di­a­grams as nec­es­sary. Chain-2 at end of rows counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet of next row. Chain-1 at end of rows does not count as a stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated. Join with slip stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated.

Crin­kle Pat­tern Worked across an even num­ber of sts. Foun­da­tion Row (RS): Sl st into 3rd ch from hook (2 sk chs count as first hdc), *hdc into next ch, sl st into next ch; rep from * across. Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), turn. Pat­tern Row: Sk first sl st, *sl st into next hdc, hdc into next sl st; rep from * across, end­ing row with a sl st into top of turn­ing ch-2. Ch 2, turn. SWEATER LOWER BACK

Ch 45 [49, 53, 59, 63].

Beg Crin­kle Pat­tern (see Stitch Pat­terns), and work even on 44 [48, 52, 58, 62] sts un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 171/2 [17, 17, 161/2, 161/2] inches from beg. Fas­ten off.

UP­PER BACK

Ch 27 [28, 28, 30, 30].

Beg Side­ways Rib Pat­tern (see Stitch Pat­terns), and work even un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 14 [15, 16, 17, 18] inches from beg. Sew 1 side edge of Up­per Back to top of Lower Back, leav­ing 13/4 [2, 21/2, 3, 31/2] inches free on Lower Back on each side for arm­hole shap­ing.

LEFT FRONT

Ch 23 [25, 27, 29, 31]. Beg Crin­kle Pat­tern, and work even on 22 [24, 26, 28, 30] sts un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 171/2 [17, 17, 161/2, 161/2] inches from beg. Do not ch 2. Turn.

Shape Arm­hole Sl st into each of first 4 [5,6, 8, 9] sts, con­tinue Crin­kle Pat­tern across as es­tab­lished to end row. Con­tinue even in Crin­kle Pat­tern un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 18 inches from beg, end­ing af­ter RS row.

Shape Neck Dec 1 st by sk 2nd st at neck edge ev­ery other row 6 [4,4, 4, 2] times, then ev­ery 4 rows 3 [4, 4,4, 5] times. (9 [11, 12, 13, 15] sts rem) Con­tinue even, if nec­es­sary, un­til piece mea­sures same as Back to shoul­ders. Fas­ten off.

RIGHT FRONT

Same as Left Front, re­vers­ing shap­ing.

SLEEVES

Ch 25. Beg Crin­kle Pat­tern with 24 sts, and inc 1 st each side by work­ing 2 sts in pat­tern in 2nd st and 2nd st from the end ev­ery 4 rows 0 [5, 7, 11, 12] times, ev­ery 6 rows 8 [6,4, 1, 0] time(s), then ev­ery 8 rows 1 [0,0, 0, 0] time(s). (42 [46, 46, 48, 48] sts) Con­tinue even un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 211/2 [211/2, 21, 201/2, 201/2) inches from beg. Fas­ten off.

FIN­ISH­ING

Sew shoul­der seams, join­ing 9 [11, 12, 13, 15] sts each side.

HOOD

Row 1: With RS fac­ing, join (see Pat­tern Notes) to beg of Right Front neck shap­ing and ch 1. Work 82 sc evenly sp around neck open­ing. Ch 1, turn. Beg Crin­kle Pat­tern, and work even un­til hood mea­sures ap­prox­i­mately 121/2 inches from beg. Fas­ten off. Fold last row in half. With RS fac­ing, sew tog to form top of Hood.

FRONT BAND

Ch 13. Beg Side­ways Rib Pat­tern on 12 sts, and work even un­til piece, when loosely stretched, fits along Left Front edge, along left side of front neck shap­ing, around front of Hood, down right side of front neck shap­ing, and down Right Front edge. Fas­ten off. Sew Front Band into place. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
