EASY FIN­ISHED MEA­SURE­MENTS

Lantern: 21/4 inches long Mit­ten: 31/4 inches long

MA­TE­RI­ALS

• Medium ( worsted) weight acrylic yarn: 3 oz each light teal, teal, dark teal,

light green and white • Size F/ 5/ 3.75mm cro­chet hook or size

needed to ob­tain gauge • Tapestry nee­dle • Polyester fiber­fill • Stitch marker

GAUGE

Lantern: 4 sc = 1 inch; 4 rnds = 1 inch Mit­ten: 4 sc = 1 inch; 5 rnds = 1 inch

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Work in con­tin­u­ous rounds with­out join­ing un­less oth­er­wise stated. Place stitch marker on first stitch of round and move up as each round is com­pleted. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated.

SPE­CIAL STITCH

Sin­gle cro­chet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, in­sert hook in in­di­cated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

COLOR SE­QUENCES

Or­na­ment 1: Lantern in white, Shap­ing, Tas­sel and Fringe in dark teal, Flower in light green, Hanger in light teal. Or­na­ment 2: Lantern in dark teal, Shap­ing, Tas­sel and Fringe in light teal, Flower in white, Hanger in teal. Or­na­ment 3: Lantern in teal, Shap­ing, Tas­sel and Fringe in white, Flower in light teal, Hanger in dark teal. Mit­ten 1: Hand and Thumb in dark teal, Flower in white, Flower Cen­ter in light teal. Mit­ten 2: Hand and Thumb in teal, Flower in dark teal, Flower Cen­ter in white. Mit­ten 3: Hand and Thumb in light teal, Flower in teal, Flower Cen­ter in dark teal.

OR­NA­MENTS LANTERN

Make 1 each in colors shown in Color Se­quences. Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, place marker (see Pat­tern Notes) on first st. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (30 sc) Rnd 6: (Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. (36 sc)

Rnds 7–14: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 15: (Sc in next 4 sc, sc dec— see Stitch Guide, in next 2 sc) around. (30 sc)

Rnd 16: (Sc in next 3 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc) around. (24 sc)

Rnd 17: (Sc dec in next 2 sc) around, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first sc. Leav­ing a long tail, fas­ten off. (12 sc) Stuff firmly. Weave tail through last rnd and gather sts tog.

Shap­ing

Thread tapestry nee­dle with long strand of in­di­cated color. Push nee­dle through Lantern from cen­ter top to cen­ter bot­tom. Go around out­side of Lantern and up to cen­ter top again and push nee­dle through to bot­tom. Rep 5 times. Do not pull too tightly. Make sure the 6 strands are evenly sp. Set aside.

FLOWER

Make 6. Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in first sc, (ch 3, sc in next sc) around, ch 3, join in first sc. Fas­ten off, leav­ing long end of yarn to sew 1 Flower to cen­ter of each sec­tion.

Hanger

Ch 18, join in first ch to form a lp, ch 2.

Rnd 1: Keep­ing hang­ing lp cen­tered, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, place marker on first st. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around, join in first sc, end off, leav­ing long end of yarn. Sew to cen­ter top of Lantern.

Tas­sel Fringe

(Ch 11, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across) 5 times, end off, leav­ing long end of yarn. Weave tail through top edge of

each strand and pull tightly. Do not cut ends. Set aside.

Top

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, place marker on first st. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around, join in first sc. Fas­ten off, leav­ing long end of yarn. In­sert ends of yarn from top of Fringe into cen­ter of Top and pull into Top. With tapestry nee­dle, weave tail through sts in rnd 2 of Top and gather tightly around Fringe. Sew in place on cen­ter bot­tom of Lantern.

MIT­TEN

Make 1 each in colors shown in Color Se­quences.

Hand

Ch 8.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs, ch 18 (hanger made), sc in same ch as last sc made, sc in rem 4 chs, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps (see Stitch Guide), sc in first 3 sc, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sc, sc in rem 3 sc, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)

Rows 3–18: Work­ing in back lps, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Top

Row 1: Work­ing in ends of rows, sc 18 sts evenly sp across, ch 1, turn. (18 sc)

Row 2: Sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) across, ch 1, turn. (24 sc)

Row 3: Sc in first 11 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in rem 11 sc, ch 1, turn. (26 sc)

Thumb

Row 1: With RS fac­ing, sc join (see Spe­cial Stitch) in first sk sc of row 6, sc in rem 7 sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each st, end off leav­ing a long end of yarn. Weave tail through last row and draw 8 sts tog. Sew Thumb seam. Sew top and side seams. Fold down cuff and pull out hanger.

FLOWER

Ch 3.

Rnd 1: 8 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beg 2 sk chs do not count as a st), join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first hdc. (8 hdc)

Rnd 2: (Ch 3, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next hdc) around, join in base of beg ch-3, end off leav­ing long end of yarn for sewing Flower in place.

Flower Cen­ter

Ch 2, work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in first sc, end off leav­ing long end to sew to cen­ter of Flower.

FIN­ISH­ING

Sew Flower Cen­ter in place. Sew Flower on side of Mit­ten.
