PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Pon­cho is made in one piece, start­ing from Back and con­tin­u­ing in Right Front and Left Front sides. Rib Bor­der is worked around the pon­cho edges. Sides are closed with wood but­tons. Re­fer to Stitch Di­a­gram as needed. Chain-5 at beg of rows counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet plus chain-3 un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-3 at beg of rows counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Join with slip stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated.

Row 37 [39]: Ch 5, 2- dc cl in next 2- dc cl, [arch, leaf on top of next 2- dc cl] 8 [9] times, dc in next sc, turn, leav­ing rem sts un­worked.

Rows 38–72 [40–76]: Rep row 2 of Leaf Pat­tern. Fas­ten off.

LEFT FRONT

At row 36 [38], join (see Pat­tern Notes) yarn in same st where last sc was worked for Right Front.

Rows 37–72 [39–76]: Rep row 2 of Leaf Pat­tern. Fas­ten off.

BOT­TOM & SIDE BOR­DERS

With RS fac­ing, join yarn in in­ner cor­ner of Left Front and work around Pon­cho edges of Left Front, Back and Right Front as fol­lows:

Set-up Row: Ch 3 (see Pat­tern Notes), work 3 dc in each arch and 1 dc in each leaf along Left Front bot­tom edge, work 3 dc in outer cor­ner of Left Front, work 2 dc in each row end of left side, work 3 dc in Back left cor­ner, work 3 dc in each ch-4 sp and 1 dc in each leaf across Back bot­tom edge, work 3 dc in Back right cor­ner, work 2 dc in each row end of right side edge, work 3 dc in outer cor­ner of Right Front, work 3 dc in each arch and 1 dc in each leaf across Right Front bot­tom edge, dc in in­ner cor­ner of Right Front, turn.

Dress it up or dress it down with this com­fort­able and stylish open-front pon­cho. It’s very easy and fast to work us­ing an ul­tra-soft chunky yarn.

Row 1: Work row 1 of Rib Pat­tern (see Stitch Pat­terns) along edges, a Rib Cor­ner (see Stitch Pat­terns) in each cor­ner st and a But­ton­hole (see Stitch Pat­terns) on Front Left and Front Right Bor­der at ap­prox­i­mately 16 inches from bot­tom edge.

Row 2: Rep Rib Pat­tern along edges, a Rib cor­ner around each cor­ner st. In ch-1 sp of But­ton­holes work a dc in place of a post dc.

Row 3: Rep Rib Pat­tern along edges, a Rib cor­ner around each cor­ner st. Fas­ten off.

OPEN­ING BOR­DER

With RS fac­ing, join yarn in in­ner cor­ner of Right Front and work across front open­ing edges.

Row 1: Ch 3, 6 dc across row ends of Right Front Bot­tom Bor­der, 2 dc in each row end of Left and Right open­ing, 6 dc across row ends of Left Front Bot­tom Bor­der, turn.

Rows 2–9: Ch 3, work Rib Pat­tern across. Turn. Fas­ten off.

ASSEM­BLY

Weave in ends. Sew But­tons in in­ter­nal Side Bor­ders at about 16 inches from bot­tom. Gen­tly block the pon­cho. C!
