• Medium ( worsted) weight yarn: 38 oz dark green 30 oz off- white

• Fine ( sport) weight yarn: 14 oz off- white

• Size 0/ 2.50mm steel cro­chet hook

or size needed to ob­tain gauge

• Size G/ 6/ 4mm cro­chet hook or size needed

to ob­tain gauge

GAUGE

Size G hook and medium yarn: 4 sts = 1 inch;

7 shell rows = 4 inches;

Size 0 hook and fine yarn: 6 sts = 1 inch;

Strip = 5 inches wide

Make 6.

Row 1: With G hook and dark green, ch 27, 2 dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 1, 2 dc in same ch as first 2 dc (shell made); *ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, sk next 5 chs, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch; rep from * twice, sk next 2 chs, dc in last ch, turn. (4 shells)

Row 2: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 sp of next shell; *ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 sp of next shell; rep from * twice, dc in 5th ch of ch-5, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 sp of next shell; *ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 sp of next shell; rep from * twice, dc in 3rd ch of turn­ing ch-3, turn.

Rows 4–110: Rep row 3. At end of last row, fas­ten off.

Note: The ch-10 lps and ch-15 lps al­ter­nate as you work; if 2 of the same size lps are next to each other, the lac­ing in­struc­tions will not work, so pe­ri­od­i­cally check to make sure they al­ter­nate.

Work­ing across 1 long edge of Strip with G hook and off- white medium yarn, join with sc in end of row 1, (ch 10, sc, ch 15, sc) over end dc of same row, (ch 10, sc, ch 15, sc) over end of each row across. Fas­ten off. Work­ing across op­po­site edge of Strip, with G hook and off- white medium yarn, join with sc in end dc of row 110, ch 15, sc over same end st of same row, (ch 10, sc, ch 15, sc) over end of each row across to row 1, (ch 10, sc, ch 15, sc, ch 10, sc) over end of row 1. Fas­ten off. Rep on each Strip.

IR­ISH ROSE

Make 60.

Rnd 1: With 0 hook and off- white fine yarn, make a slip ring (see il­lus­tra­tion), ch 3 (counts as first dc), 9 dc in ring, pull end tightly to close ring, join with sl st in top of ch-3. (10 dc made)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each dc around, join with sl st in first sc. Rnd 3: Ch 3, sk next st, [sc in next st, ch 2, sk next st] around, sc in join­ing sl st of rnd 2. (5 ch lps made)

Rnd 4: (Sl st, ch 2, 4 dc, ch 2, sl st) in each ch lp around. (5 petals made)

Rnd 5: Work­ing be­hind petals, ch 1, [sc in back lp of next sk sc on rnd 2, ch 4] around, join with a sl st in first sc. (5 ch- 4 lps)

Rnd 6: (Sl st, ch 2, 7 dc, ch 2, sl st) in each ch lp around. Do not fas­ten off.

Rnd 7: Ch 2, [sl st at bot­tom of cen­ter dc on back of next petal, ch 5] around, join with sl st in first sl st. (5 ch-5 lps)

Rnd 8: (Sl st, ch 2, 10 dc, ch 2, sl st) in each ch lp around, join with sl st in beg sl st. Fas­ten off.

3- LEAF SPRAY

Make 60.

With 0 hook and off- white fine yarn, beg at bot­tom of stem, ch 16, do not fas­ten off.

First Leaf

Row 1: 6 tr in 5th ch from hook (beg sk chs count as first tr), turn. (7 tr)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), [ dc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts] twice, dc in next st, turn, leav­ing last st un­worked. (4 dc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sk first st, sc dec in next 2 sts, leav­ing last st un­worked, do not turn; for tip of leaf, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, work­ing down side of Leaf, ch 1, sl st in top of st at end of row 2, ch 2, sl st in top of st at end of row 1, ch 4, sl st in same ch as 6 tr of row 1, do not turn or fas­ten off.

2nd Leaf

Ch 9, rep rows 1–3 of First Leaf; sc in next 4 chs be­low 2nd leaf, do not fas­ten off.
