GAUGE

13 sts = 4 inches; 8 rows = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in ends as work pro­gresses. The right side (RS) is the ribbed side of sleeves and skirt. Chain-2 at end of round or row counts as dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated.

SPE­CIAL STITCHES

Half dou­ble slip stitch ( hd­slst): Yo, in­sert hook in st in­di­cated, yo, pull up a lp so there are 3 lps on hook, pull 3rd lp through first 2 lps to com­plete st. Shell: (Sc, 2 hdc, sc) in same sp. Cross dou­ble cro­chet (cross dc): Sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, dc in first sk st, in­sert­ing hook from front of work as usual. Dou­ble cro­chet join (dc join): Yo, in­sert hook as in­di­cated, yo, pull lp through, com­plete as for dc. Sin­gle cro­chet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, in­sert hook in in­di­cated st, yo, pull up lp, yo, draw through both lps on hook.

DRESS BODICE & SLEEVES First Sleeve

Row 1 ( WS): With cream, ch 12 (15, 18), hd­slst (see Spe­cial Stitches) in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), turn. [11 (14, 17) hd­slst]

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps (see Stitch Guide) only, [ cross dc (see Spe­cial Stitches) over next 3 sts], across to last st, dc in last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Work­ing through both lps of each dc and in a sin­gle lp of each ch, hd­slst in each dc and ch across. Ch 2, turn. [11, (14, 17) hd­slst]

Rows 4–13 (4–15, 4–19): Rep rows 2 and 3. Fas­ten off cream.

First Bodice Piece

Note: Work in back lps only on all rows.

Row 1: With RS of first sleeve fac­ing, join cro­cus with hd­slst in first hd­slst and hd­slst in each hd­slst across. Ch 1, turn. [11 (14, 17) hd­slst]

Rows 2–27 (2–29, 2–31): Hd­slst in each hd­slst across. Ch 1, turn. Fas­ten off cro­cus.

2nd Sleeve

Row 1: With WS of first sleeve/ bodice piece fac­ing, join cream with hd­slst in back lp only of first hd­slst and hd­slst in back lp only of each hd­slst across. Ch 2, turn. [11 (14, 17) hd­slst]

Rem rows: Rep rows 2–13 (2–15, 2–19) of first sleeve. Fas­ten off cream.

2nd Bodice Piece

Work ex­actly as first bodice piece. Fas­ten off, leav­ing a longer length of yarn. With yarn nee­dle, join last row of 2nd bodice piece with whip­stitch (see il­lus­tra­tion) to rem lps foun­da­tion row 1 of sleeve.

NECK­LINE

Rnd 1: Work­ing along 1 side of bodice band, dc join (see Spe­cial Stitches) cream in end of any ribbed row, ch 1, [dc in end of next ribbed row, ch 1] around. Join (see Pat­tern Notes) to first dc.

Rnd 2: Sk all dc sts, sc in next ch-1 sp and in each ch-1 sp around. Join to first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 2, [sl st in next sc, ch 2] around, end­ing with sl st at base of beg ch-2. Fas­ten off.

Draw­string With cream, ch 100. Fas­ten off. Knot both ends and trim, leav­ing a short length of yarn to pre­vent un­rav­el­ing. Beg at cen­ter front of bodice (the front and back are iden­ti­cal), weave draw­string through eyelets of neck­line. Tighten draw­string and tie into a neat bow. Al­ter­na­tively, you may use a length of rib­bon.

Bodice Edg­ing Sc join (see Spe­cial Stitches) cro­cus in end of first ribbed row at front of bodice, [ch 2, sc in end of next ribbed row] across front of bodice, ch 5 for first un­der­arm, work­ing across back of bodice, sc in end of next ribbed row, [ch 2, sc in end of next ribbed row] across. Ch 5 for 2nd un­der­arm. Join to first sc. Do not fas­ten off. Turn.

SKIRT All Sizes

Skirt is worked in ver­ti­cal rows.

Row 1: With cro­cus, ch 29, hd­slst in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, sk next 2 chs at un­der­arm and sl st in 3rd ch. Turn. (28 hd­slst)

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps only, [cross dc over next 3 sts] across to last st, dc in last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Work­ing through both lps of each dc and in a sin­gle lp of each ch, hd­slst in each dc and ch across. Ch 1, sk next 2 chs at un­der­arm, join in next sc. Turn. [28 hd­slst]

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Row 5: Work­ing through both lps of each dc and in a sin­gle lp of each ch, hd­slst in each dc

and ch across. Ch 1, sk next 2 chs, join in next sc. Turn. [28 hd­slst]

Rem rows: Rep rows 4 and 5. (When work­ing across ch-5 at 2nd un­der­arm, work just as you did on row 3.) Work un­til skirt has been worked around en­tire bot­tom edge of bodice. End with a rep of row 5 and a sl st at the base of the beg ch-29 of row 1, then turn and work a fi­nal rep of row 2. Fas­ten off, leav­ing a longer length of yarn to sew skirt side seam. With yarn nee­dle, sew seam us­ing whip­stitch.

Skirt Edg­ing With cream, sc join in end of any ribbed row at 1 bot­tom side edge of skirt, ch 2, [sc in end of next ribbed row, ch 2] around. Join to first sc. Do not fas­ten off. Turn.

Flounce

All Sizes

Note: Skirt is worked in ver­ti­cal rows.

Row 1: Ch 11, hd­slst in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, sk next 2 chs at skirt edge and sl st in next sc. Turn. [10 hd­slst]

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps only, [cross dc over next 3 sts] across to last st, dc in last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Work­ing through both lps of each dc and in a sin­gle lp of each ch, hd­slst in each dc and ch across. Ch 1, sk next 2 chs, join in next sc. Turn. [10 hd­slst]

Rem rows: Rep rows 2 and 3. Work un­til en­tire bot­tom of skirt is edged. End with a rep of row 3 and a sl st at the base of the beg ch11 of row 1, then turn and work a fi­nal rep of row 2. Fas­ten off, leav­ing a longer length of yarn to sew skirt side seam. With yarn nee­dle, sew seam us­ing whip­stitch.

Flounce Edg­ing

Rnd 1: Sc join cream in end of any ribbed row at bot­tom of flounce, ch 2, [sc in end of next ribbed row, ch 2] around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Shell (see Spe­cial Stitches) in each ch-2 sp around. Join to first sc.

Rnds 3 & 4: Shell be­tween 2 hdc of each shell around. Join to first sc. At end of last row, fas­ten off.

LACE HEAD­BAND

Row 1: With cream, ch 9, hd­slst (see Spe­cial Stitches) in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), turn. (8 hd­slst)

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps only (see Stitch Guide), [ cross dc (see Spe­cial Stitches) over next 3 sts] across to last st, dc in last st. Ch 1, turn. Row 3: Work­ing through both lps of each dc and in a sin­gle lp of each ch, hd­slst in each dc and ch across. Ch 2, turn. (8 hd­slst)

Rows 4–25 (4–27, 4–27): Rep rows 2 and 3.

Row 26 (28, 28): Work­ing in back lps only, hd­slst in each st across. Ch 1, turn. Do not fas­ten off.

Nar­rowed Band

Note: To ad­just siz­ing if needed, add or omit ribbed rows of 4 hd­slst.

Row 1: Work­ing in back lps only, hd­slst in first st, sk 1 st, hd­slst in next 4 sts, sk 1 st, hd­slst in last st. Ch 1, turn. (6 hd­slst)

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps only, hd­slst in first st, sk 1 st, hd­slst in next 2 sts, sk 1 st, hd­slst in last st. Ch 1, turn. (4 hd­slst)

Rows 3–9: Work­ing in back lps only, hd­slst in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (4 hd­slst)

Row 10: Work­ing in back lps only, 2 hd­slst in first st, hd­slst in next 2 hd­slst, 2 hd­slst in last st. (6 hd­slst)

Row 11: Work­ing in back lps only, 2 hd­slst in first st, hd­slst in next 4 hd­slst, 2 hd­slst in last st. (8 hd­slst) Fas­ten off, leav­ing a longer length of yarn. With yarn nee­dle, sew sts of row 11 to rem lps of foun­da­tion row 1 of lace head­band. Pin flower to head­band if de­sired.
