• DROPS Paris medium ( worsted) weight cotton yarn ( 13/4 oz/ 82 yds/ 50g per skein):
• For Pillow 1: 4 skeins # 48 petrol ( also used for back) 1 skein each # 07 heather, # 01 apricot, # 31 medium purple and # 39 dark lime
• For Pillow 2: 4 skeins # 39 dark lime ( also used for back) 1 skein each # 07 heather, # 01 apricot, # 31 medium purple and # 48 petrol
• Size G/ 6/ 4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Pillow stuffing
• Tapestry needle
12 tapestry dc = 4 inches; 7 tapestry dc rows = 4 inches
Pillows consist of 2 Squares worked in the round separately and then stitched together with reverse single crochet stitch. Front square is worked in 5 contrasting colors using tapestry double crochet technique. Back square is worked in regular double crochet, using a single color. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as double crochet unless otherwise stated. Rounds are joined with slip stitch in first stitch at beginning of round. Instructions are given for Pillow 1, changes for Pillow 2 are in [ ].
Tapestry double crochet (tapestry dc): Dc with 1 color, carrying and working over a thread of contrasting color. Change color when you have 2 lps on the hook.
PILLOW FRONT PANEL
With heather [apricot], ch 4 and form a ring joining rnd (see Pattern Notes) in first ch. Rnds will beg from central st of first edge of square.
Work all rnds in tapestry dc (see Special Stitch), using 2 threads of contrasting colors in each rnd and following Diagram 1 [Diagram 2] on next page for color changes.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in ring, [ch 2, 3 dc in ring] 3 times, ch 2, dc in ring. Join rnd in 3rd ch at beg of rnd. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)
Rnds 2–13: Ch 3, 1 dc in each dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 sp, join in 3rd ch at beg of rnd. (204 dc, 4 ch-2 sps at end of 13th rnd) Fasten off.
With petrol [dark lime], ch 4 and form a ring joining in first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, dc in ring, [ch 2, 3 dc in ring] 3 times, ch 2, dc in ring. Join in 3rd ch at beg of rnd, turn. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)
Rnds 2–13: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 sp. Join rnd in 3rd ch at beg of rnd, turn. (204 dc, 4 ch-2 sps at end of 13th rnd) Fasten off.
Weave in ends. Block both Panels of each Pillow. Match WS of Front and Back Panels. With petrol [dark lime] work 1 row of reverse sc (see Stitch Guide) around 3 edges of pillows matching sts of last rnd. Insert stuffing and close 4th edge with reverse sc. Fasten off.
