A Note From the Editor

Crochet! - - Contents -

In the world of publishing, putting a magazine together starts about a year before the on-sale date. When I began to write my summer editor’s letter, Hurricane Harvey was churning in the Atlantic Ocean, and I completed it while on vacation at the Gulf Coast the night Hurricane Nate decided to make a fast visit. In between these two events, Hurricane Irma created major destruction, my mom fell and broke her hip, and several friends and family members battled personal tragedies. However, along with the bad times were also a lot of good times— family reunions, new births, and several anniversary and birthday milestone celebrations! I’m sharing this because I am sure my life, like yours, is filled with ups and downs.

Through it all faith, family, friends and crochet help keep me sane. For me, crochet relieves stress. When my personal life gets out of control, I find that a hook, yarn and a simple pattern, like the Keep It Simple Shawl found in this issue, help to bring calm and serenity to my life.

This issue’s theme is Modern- Day Boho Chic! You will find casual, relaxed and comfortable styles ranging from the open-shoulder Summer Swag Tee, designed using a bold orange for the lively bohemian, to the Maya Vest, complete with fringe for the hippy at heart! And for one of the most spectacular and colorful afghans, the Mandala Granny Afghan is a must for any home!

Remember, as crocheters we have the potential to make beautiful one- of-a kind things! So grab your hooks and get started on your favorite project in this summer issue.

Happy Crocheting! C!
