PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in ends as work pro­gresses. Join with slip stitch un­less oth­er­wise in­di­cated. Gar­ment takes 8 squares: 1 faded, 2 stonewash, 1 clas­sic, 1 vin­tage, 2 stovepipe, 1 brand new. Or you can mix any col­ors you like.

PON­CHO SQUARE MO­TIF

Make 8 (see Pat­tern Notes). Ch 68 (72, 76).

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 31 (33, 35) chs, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 3 chs, sc in next 32 (34, 36) chs. Ch 1, turn. [32 (34, 36) sc on ei­ther side of cen­ter sc dec]

Row 2: Work­ing in back lps only (see Stitch Guide), sc in 31 (33, 35) sc, sc dec in next 3 sts, sc in next 31 (33, 35) sc work­ing last sc in both lps. Ch 1, turn. [31 (33, 35) sc on ei­ther side of cen­ter sc dec]

Row 3: Work­ing in back lps only, sc in each sc across to 1 sc be­fore dec, sc dec in next 3 sts, sc in each sc across work­ing last sc in both lps. Ch 1, turn. [30 (32, 34) sc on ei­ther side of cen­ter sc dec]

Rows 4–32 (4–34, 4–36): Rep row 3. [Each row will have 1 less sc on each side of cen­ter sc dec than the pre­vi­ous row. 1 sc on ei­ther side of cen­ter sc dec at end of last row.]

Last row: Work­ing in back lps only, sc dec in last 3 sts. Fas­ten off.

ASSEMBLY

Whip­stitch (see il­lus­tra­tion) Squares tog ac­cord­ing to Assembly Di­a­gram, plac­ing start­ing ch at top for all squares. Join Front to Back at stovepipe Squares.

Top Band

Join (see Pat­tern Notes) brand new to any op­po­site lp of foun­da­tion ch at top neck edge.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same st. Work sc around en­tire neck open­ing as fol­lows: Sc in each ch and work 1 or 2 sc at seams of Squares. At the cen­ter Front and Back work sc dec in 3 sts. Join in beg ch-1. Ch 1, turn.

Rnds 2–17: Work­ing in back lps only, sc in same st and each st around work­ing sc dec in 3 sts at cen­ter Front and Back. Join in beg ch-1. Ch 1, turn.

Bor­der rnd: Sl st loosely in each st around. Fas­ten off.

Bot­tom Band

Join brand new to any row edge at bot­tom of Pon­cho.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same st, work sc around en­tire bot­tom edge, at cor­ners work 3 sc. Join in beg ch-1. Ch 1, turn.

Rnds 2–17: Sc in same st and each st around, work­ing 3 sc in each mid­dle sc of cor­ner. Join in beg ch-1. Ch 1, turn.

Bor­der rnd: Sl st loosely in each st around, adding ch 1 at cor­ners to ease. Fas­ten off. C!
