Sole: 31/2 inches long (small), 41/4 inches long (medium) [5 inches long (large)]

MA­TE­RI­ALS

• Medium ( worsted) weight acrylic yarn: 1 oz/ 50 yds/ 28g each medium brown and beige 5 yds dark brown • Size F/ 5/ 3.75mm or G/ 6/ 4mm cro­chet hook or size needed to ob­tain gauge • Yarn nee­dle

GAUGE

Size F hook: 9 sc = 2 inches; 9 sc rows = 2 inches

Size G hook: 4 sc = 1 inch; 4 sc rows = 1 inch

PAT­TERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Do not join rounds un­less oth­er­wise stated.

Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. For size small, use size F hook and di­rec­tions out­side [ ]. For size medium, use size G hook and di­rec­tions out­side [ ]. For size large, use size G hook and di­rec­tions in­side [ ].

Rnd 2: 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 10 [12] sts, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 3 times, sc in each of next 9 [11] sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st. (33 [37] sc)

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 11 [13] sts, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] twice, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] twice, sc in each of next 11 [13] sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first st, turn. (39 [43] sc)

Rnd 1: With edge of Sole fac­ing, work­ing in rem front lp (see Stitch Guide) of rnd 3, join medium brown with sc in first st af­ter sl st of rnd 3, sc in each st around. (39 [43] sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 3: Sc in each of next 13 [15] sts, [sk next st, sc in each of next 2 sts] 4 times, sc in each of next 14 [16] sts, join in first st. Fas­ten off. (35 [39] sc)

INSTEP & TONGUE

Row 1: Sk first 11 [12] sts of rnd 3 on Side, work­ing in back lp of sts only, join medium brown, ch 1, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in same st as beg ch-1 and next sc, [sc dec in next 2 sts] 4 times, sl st in next st, turn. (5 [5] sts)

Row 2: Sk sl st, sc in next st, [sk next st, sc in next st] twice, sl st in back lp of next st on Side, turn. (3 [3] sc)

Row 3: Sk sl st, sc in each of next 3 sts, sl st in back lp of next st on Side, turn.

Row 4: Sk sl st, sc in each of next 3 sts, sk next st on Side, sl st in back lp of next st, turn.

Row 5: Sk sl st, sc in last 3 sts, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st, turn. (4 [4] sc)

Row 1: With toe of Boot point­ing to­ward you, join medium brown with sc in back lp of same st that last st on row 1 of Instep (see il­lus­tra­tion), sc in both lps of next 20 [24] sts, sc in back lp of same st that first st of row 1 of Instep, turn. (22 [26] sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sk first st, sc in next 19 [23] sts, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (20 [24] sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, sk first st, sc in each of next 17 [21] sts, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (18 [22] sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, sk first st, sc in each of next 15 [19] sts, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (16 [20] sts)

Rows 5– 8: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. At the end of row 8, fas­ten off.

Row 9: Join beige with sc in first st, sc in each st across. Fas­ten off.

TRIM

With beige, back­stitch (see il­lus­tra­tion) to em­broi­der stitch­ing lines on sides and back of Boot and over­cast stitches (see il­lus­tra­tion) around Instep.

SHOE­STRING

With dark brown, ch 80. Fas­ten off. Tie a knot at each end of Shoe­string. Lace Shoe­string through edges of Top as shown in photo. Tie ends in a bow. C!
