A Note From the Editor
As a very busy summer comes to an end, I am looking forward to the crisp autumn weather that will soon be in the air. I live in Texas where summers are too hot and humid, springtime is almost nonexistent and winter is way too cold to suit me. Autumn, however, is perfect. When my mother- inlaw, Alvah Pyle, was alive, I would lament that I would be happy if the entire year could just be autumn weather, to which she replied that if the weather stayed the same all year we would soon just take it for granted and not be thankful. She was a wise woman.
In regard to crochet I want to share with you four reasons why I feel crochet and autumn are the perfect marriage!
Autumn is the time crocheters can break out our crochet sweaters, or better yet stitch some new ones, like the amazing, top- down Coatigan of Many Colors, which is a cross between a coat and cardigan, designed with a lighter worsted- weight variegated yarn. I love top- down clothing because no matter what your height, you can adjust the length.
Autumn is also the perfect time to wear hats and scarves! The Divergent Hat & Cowl set is a stunning design that is guaranteed to have people asking “Where did you buy it?” and you can proudly say you made it!
Autumn is football and tailgating time, which is perfect for wearing crochet! If you are headed to the opening football kickoff or attending a tailgate party, Autumn Paths Pullover is the perfect choice. Part pullover, part poncho, its relaxed fit and easy style will keep you warm and comfortable all night long.
Autumn means cool, crisp nights just right for snuggling up in your favorite afghan while you watch TV or crochet! If you are in need of a new afghan, the Autumn Skies afghan is colorful, warm and fun to stitch.
So sit back and browse this issue and then decide what project you will start stitching first!
Happy Crocheting! C!
