Whether you’re still won­der­ing if the cruis­ing life is right for you or you’re al­ready in the plan­ning stage, you’ll find some­thing to help you on your way at the Cruis­ing World Work­shops on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 6, dur­ing the 2017 U.S. Sail­boat Show in An­napo­lis, Mary­land. There are two ses­sions avail­able. The morn­ing ses­sion be­gins with break­fast at 8 a.m., fol­lowed by sem­i­nars on buy­ing a boat, first aid for cruis­ers and mas­ter­ing marine electronics. At 1 p.m., the af­ter­noon ses­sion kicks off with off­shore cruiser and au­thor Be­han Gif­ford speak­ing about how to make a plan to cast off the dock lines, fol­lowed by voy­ager Lin Pardey ex­plain­ing off­shore sail­ing and storm tac­tics. A dis­cus­sion on cruis­ing Cuba and the Caribbean be­yond will wrap up the ses­sion. The work­shops will take place at the Naval Academy Club on the cam­pus of the U.S. Naval Academy, ad­ja­cent to the boat show. Each ses­sion is $30 per per­son or $40 per cou­ple; if you choose to stay all day, the cost is $50 per per­son or $70 per cou­ple.
