A Life Afloat
At the age of 20, Lin Pardey felt like her life was a bit stagnant. “I tired of the guys I was dating. They were all university types — all too serious — I decided I wanted to buy a sailboat and learn about sailing,” she reminisces in a new documentary video. “I met Larry, who was a charter captain at the time. We started chatting, and he was building a sailboat. I moved in with him three days later and helped him build his boat.” The ensuing story, one of a lifetime of love and voyaging, is the stuff of cruising history (you can read more about it on page 72).
