Six firefighters hurt
A blaze at a former church turned into a private residence left six firefighters hurt, two of them seriously.
A fire on Saturday evening damaged a former church, now used as a private residence.
The fire at 12 Meadow Lane in Cragsmoor brought out firefighters from seven departments.
Six firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital, two more seriously injured than the others, according to Richard Muellerliele, Ulster County coordinator of emergency medical services. Three other firefighters declined treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and unknown. An initial report suggested a propane tank exploded.
Heavy smoke made it difficult to initially reach the fire and knock down the flames, authorities said.
