Church hosts Bless­ing of the An­i­mals Oct. 2

St. An­drew’s Epis­co­pal Church, 163 Main St., will cel­e­brate the min­istry of St. Fran­cis of As­sisi with its an­nual Bless­ing of the An­i­mals on at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. ser­vices Oct. 2.

All are in­vited to bring their pets for bless­ing by the Rev. Robin L. James.

All an­i­mals must ei­ther be leashed or in a car­rier.

As­sisi is of­ten as­so­ci­ated with care for an­i­mals as well as the poor, who formed the core of his min­istry. The bless­ing of pets in his name has a long his­tory in the church.

This is a joy­ful ser­vice of thanks­giv­ing for the role pets play in peo­ple’s lives, the church said in a press re­lease.

St. An­drew’s Epis­co­pal Church is at the cor­ner of Main Street and North Oak­wood Ter­race. Street park­ing is avail­able.
