WEST HUR­LEY >> Betty Jean Brueck­ner, 83, passed away sud­denly Satur­day, Sept. 24, 2016, at her res­i­dence.

Born May 30, 1933, in Kingston, she was the daugh­ter of the late Bur­ton and Pearl Krom Beesmer and had resided in West Hur­ley for many years.

Betty was a de­voted wife, mother, grand­mother and sis­ter.

She was pre­de­ceased by an in­fant son, Ned Brueck­ner; her sis­ter, Doris Niece; and broth­ers, Robert and Wal­ter Beesmer.

Sur­viv­ing are her hus­band, Ned E. Brueck­ner, with whom she cel­e­brated their 65th an­niver­sary on Sept. 22; two daugh­ters, Dale Whip­ple and her hus­band John of Hur­ley, and Robin Miller and her hus­band Alan of Rome, Ga.; a son, Dan Brueck­ner and his wife Pa­tri­cia of Honea­p­ath, S.C.; two sis­ters, Eva Finelli of Sauger­ties and Nancy Sweeney of Kingston; and six grand­chil­dren, Scott, Chris­tine, Jeremy, Jonathan, An­drea and Alex. Also sur­viv­ing are sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Friends will be re­ceived Thurs­day, 10 to 11 a.m. at Lasher Fu­neral Home Inc., 100 Tinker St., Wood­stock. The fu­neral ser­vice will fol­low at 11 a.m., fol­lowed by en­tomb­ment at Wiltwyck Com­mu­nity Maus­soleum in Kingston.

In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to St. Jude’s Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal or West Hur­ley Res­cue Squad.
