Food co-op cel­e­brates its 40th an­niver­sary

HIGH FALLS >> In honor of its 40th an­niver­sary, the High Falls Food Co-op will throw a party from 1 to 5 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 1, to thank the com­mu­nity for its sup­port.

The party, held rain or shine at the Black Barn at state Route 213 and Bruceville Road, will fea­ture live mu­sic and com­edy in the barn, and or­ganic veg­e­tar­ian food from the Co-op’s kitchen in the ad­join­ing big tent.

Live acous­tic mu­sic will be per­formed all af­ter­noon, fea­tur­ing lo­cal fa­vorites like the Dog on Fleas band, African drum­mers Amadou & Mary, Bloom Com­mu­nity Choir, and the jazz stylings of Jade Cruz. Com­edy will be pro­vided by Joe Raiola, se­nior edi­tor of Mad Mag­a­zine and WDST ra­dio per­son­al­ity.

The party will also pay trib­ute to com­mu­nity non­profit groups with a raf­fle draw­ing at 4 p.m. Ticket hold­ers must be present to win. For in­for­ma­tion, visit the Co-op’s Face­book page or call (845) 687-7262.
