Food co-op celebrates its 40th anniversary
HIGH FALLS >> In honor of its 40th anniversary, the High Falls Food Co-op will throw a party from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, to thank the community for its support.
The party, held rain or shine at the Black Barn at state Route 213 and Bruceville Road, will feature live music and comedy in the barn, and organic vegetarian food from the Co-op’s kitchen in the adjoining big tent.
Live acoustic music will be performed all afternoon, featuring local favorites like the Dog on Fleas band, African drummers Amadou & Mary, Bloom Community Choir, and the jazz stylings of Jade Cruz. Comedy will be provided by Joe Raiola, senior editor of Mad Magazine and WDST radio personality.
The party will also pay tribute to community nonprofit groups with a raffle drawing at 4 p.m. Ticket holders must be present to win. For information, visit the Co-op’s Facebook page or call (845) 687-7262.
