Kingston sweep by Pine Bush in OCIAA play
KINGSTON » Kingston High’s girls tennis team won its sixth consecutive match as it knocked off previously undefeated Warwick 4-3 in Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association action.
“This was probably one of our better matches of the season,” Kingston coach Bill Constant said. “They really played well. Our kids just don’t quit.”
The third doubles team of Juliette Rhodes and Christina Demosthenes battled back to win the first set and overcame an 0-2 hole in set two to beat Emily Bruzzese and Stephanie Menoutis 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the match.
Raquelle DeCicco and Vyda Van-Denberg both won in straight sets in singles and the first doubles tandem of Patricia Kuster and Molly Schatzel was victorious to help lead the Tigers.
Lila Shi Freeman lost her first
match of the season as Warwick’s Ava Ghobadian rallied to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at second singles. Both teams are 8-1 overall. Kingston plays host to Newburgh today. Jackie Grundfast (W) def.
