Ronald Demskie Smith, 76, of Rosendale
ROSENDALE >> Ronald Demskie Smith, 76, of Creeklocks Road, Rosendale, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. Born April 19, 1940 in Kingston he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Demskie) Smith.
A welder for Hudson Cement, Ron also worked for Lewis Tree Service and DeCicco Paving. He was a member of the BPOE #550 Kingston and Moose International. Ron loved to travel in his RV and riding his motorcycle, NASCAR, classic car shows, winters in Bushnell Florida, watching the New York Giants and New York Mets and working in the yard. He was fondly known as the “dirt man”.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Genther) Smith; his children, Susan Constable of Rosendale, Andrew M. Cherny (Debra Carpino) of Saugerties, Donna Smith and her fiancé Jack Hacker, Frances Smith-Staccio and her husband Carmine of Rosendale; his sister, Delores Banks and her husband Ronald; and his brothers, James Barry Smith and his wife Barbara, Edward Jackson and his wife Tammy. Ten grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
His grandson, William C. Constable, IV; great-granddaughter, Abigail Patricia Williams; sister, Patricia DeJesus; and brothers, Edward C. “Buzz” Smith and Charles E. Jackson, all died previously.
