Motorcyclist injured in crash with tractor-trailer on Thruway

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - LOCAL NEWS - Freeman staff

A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday when she was struck by a tractor-trailer she was trying to pass on the Thruway near the Malden Turnpike overpass, state police said.

Trooper David Howard said the 2014 Harley Davidson and the tractor-trailer, both of which were northbound, collided about 10:10 a.m. between Exits 20 and 21.

Howard said the motorcycle operator, Diane Mary Jordan, 51, of Farmington, Minn., was flown to Albany Medical Center for treatment of leg injuries. Jordan was “awake and conscious” after the collision, Howard said.

Jordan was northbound in the right lane and cut in front of the tractor-trailer driven by Allen WindsorSexton, 55, of Kentucky, Howard said. He said the tractor-trailer then hit the rear of her motorcycle and jackknifed.

Jordan was ticketed for making an unsafe lane change, Howard said.

The truck driver was uninjured.
