Walkway event aims to cut food waste
POUGHKEEPSIE » The Hudson Valley Regional Council, Feedback, Dutchess Outreach, Rescuing Leftover Cuisine and other regional and community organizations will promote ways to reduce food waste from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Walkway Over the Hudson State Park.
“Feeding the Hudson Valley” will be taking over the walkway in collaboration with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley’s Walk to Fight Hunger. Hundreds of members of the public will be provided a free feast, sourced from fresh, top-quality produce that would have been wasted.
Leading up to the feast will be a series of events to bring attention to the bounty of food produced in the Hudson Valley and the opportunities to reduce food waste and get food to people in need.
Besides a free lunch, the Oct. 8 event will feature live music, speakers, local chef demonstrations, and educational activities.
