Events aim to raise food waste awareness
On Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at the Walkway Over the Hudson, area residents will be provided a free feast of fresh, top-quality produce that otherwise might have been wasted, through “Feeding the Hudson Valley,” part of an initiative to raise awareness about food waste and ways to reduce it.
There will be live music, expert speakers, local chef demonstrations, educational activities and resources focusing on food waste, food recovery, food waste prevention and feeding hungry people, not landfills.
A series of events leading up to the feast are intended to bring attention to the bounty of food produced in the Hudson Valley and opportunities to reduce food waste and get food to people in need, including the screening of a 75-minute documentary “Just Eat It,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at BSP, 323 Wall St., Kingston. A discussion of the documentary will follow.
