Vassar will offer tours of college campus

-

Free walking tours of the Vassar College campus will be offered Saturdays, Oct. 8, 15, and 29.

Tours will begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Registration is limited.

The tour leaders will be Vassar alumnus Chris Smart, assistant to the president and associate professor of chemistry; Colton Johnson, college historian; and Leslie Offutt, associate professor of history.

Tours, about 90 minutes long, start from the front entrance to the college’s main building. They will be held rain or shine, and all ages are welcome. To sign up, call (845) 4377400.

Highlights will include the main building, a national historic landmark, as well as the Thompson Memorial Library and the Vassar Chapel. The campus is also a designated arboretum, home to more than 200 varieties of trees and thousands of trees all told, so fall foliage colors will abound.
