Alfred B. Mantey, 95, of Albany
ALBANY >> Alfred B. Mantey, 95, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Evergreen Commons.
Born in Hartford, Conn., he was the son of the late Alfred and Lena Warner Mantey.
Alfred was a longtime salesman for National Casket Company on Central Avenue in Albany. He also was a longtime bartender for the Orchard Tavern in Albany. Al faithfully and honorably served his Country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for gallantry. He is a member of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, and Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post 1520.
He was the husband of the late Rita M. O’Shea Mantey, and father of Richard A. Mantey (Peggy), James O. Mantey, and David J. Mantey (Paula). Five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Al’s family Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, Albany, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany, at 1 p.m., where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
