Al­fred B. Mantey, 95, of Albany

ALBANY >> Al­fred B. Mantey, 95, en­tered into eter­nal rest Satur­day, Oct. 1, 2016, at Ev­er­green Com­mons.

Born in Hart­ford, Conn., he was the son of the late Al­fred and Lena Warner Mantey.

Al­fred was a long­time sales­man for National Cas­ket Com­pany on Central Av­enue in Albany. He also was a long­time bar­tender for the Or­chard Tav­ern in Albany. Al faith­fully and hon­or­ably served his Coun­try in the U.S. Army dur­ing World War II. He was awarded both the Bronze Star and Pur­ple Heart for gal­lantry. He is a mem­ber of the National Pur­ple Heart Hall of Honor, and Joseph E. Zaloga Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 1520.

He was the hus­band of the late Rita M. O’Shea Mantey, and fa­ther of Richard A. Mantey (Peggy), James O. Mantey, and David J. Mantey (Paula). Five grand­chil­dren and 10 great-grand­chil­dren sur­vive.

Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to visit with Al’s fam­ily Wed­nes­day, Oct. 5, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lasak & Gigliotti Fu­neral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be Thurs­day, Oct. 6, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. from the Lasak & Gigliotti Fu­neral Home, Albany, thence to Blessed Sacra­ment Church, Albany, at 1 p.m., where a fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated. The Rite of Com­mit­tal will im­me­di­ately fol­low the Fu­neral Mass at Our Lady of An­gels Ceme­tery.
