Mount Saint Mary College recently received state Education Department approval of its five-year BA/MSEd degrees in history and math.

The bachelor’s in mathematics/master’s in adolescence education and bachelor’s in history/master’s in adolescence education programs are available either with or without dual certification in special education.

The programs were developed by the college’s division of mathematics and information technology and the division of education, and the division of social sciences and division of education, respectively.

Teachers in New York state are required to earn a master’s degree within five years of their initial certification, so the programs at the Mount will help students complete their training in a shorter period, according to a press release.
