Heroin, opioid crisis focus of event
The Ulster County Interagency Task Force on Substance Abuse Prevention will host its second countywide community event Oct. 19 to raise awareness of, and seek solutions to, the local heroin and opioid crisis.
The event will take place in the music assembly room at Ellenville Elementary School, 28 Maple Ave. Many local service resources and service providers will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. The forum speakers will start at 6 p.m. Childcare will be available.
At the forum, participants will be introduced to the realities of the epidemic and be provided with tools necessary to help prevent abuse, recognize its signs, understand the health and legal consequences, get help, and find support to cope with an abuse problem or the loss of a loved one. Experts from Ulster and Sullivan counties representing the medical field, law enforcement, recovery centers and human services organizations and agencies will answer questions.
