The Dutchess County SPCA, at 636 Violet Ave., in partnership with the Humane Society of the United States, has been asked to take on emergency transfer of animals from the evacuation areas in the Southeast due to Hurricane Matthew.

“This means, we are going to need to make some room,” the SPCA said in a press release.

Whether you are looking to offer a permanent home or a foster one, the SPCA needs your help.

For information about fostering an animal, contact Sherry Taylor at (845) 452-7722, ext. 411, or email sherry.taylor@dcspca.org.

The SPCA is also going to kick off its fall promotion with raffles for discounted adoption fees and is also asking for anything you are able to donate to help with this anticipated influx of animals.

Because this is an emergency, the SPCA will be open its doors from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
