Uptown stabbing lands man in hospital
A man was stabbed Friday afternoon on North Front Street in the city’s Uptown business district and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
The man, whose name was not provided, was conscious as he was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus, city police said at the Uptown scene. They said no arrests had been made as of 5:30 p.m. but they believed the victim could identify his attacker or attackers.
The assault took place near North Front Street’s intersection with Wall Street. Police had much of the intersection blocked off with yellow tape following the incident, preventing traffic from passing through the area for a short time.
People speaking to each other while watching police work at the scene said the victim was “jumped” in the attack. They declined to be interviewed by a reporter.
The crime scene on North Front Street in Uptown Kingston is cordoned off with police tape Friday afternoon.
