Spackenkill repeats as MHAL team champions
Spackenkill High repeated as Mid-Hudson Athletic League golf champions, beating Rondout Valley by seven strokes at Apple Greens Golf Course. Erik Stauderman shot a 2-underpar 34 to lead the Spartans.

Erik Stauderman shot a 2-under-par 34 on Apple Green’s front nine to lead the Spartans. Spackenkill finished with a 164 to Rondout’s 171. Roosevelt and Millbrook each shot 183.
Stauderman bogeyed the first hole, then quickly settled down. He birdied the second, fourth and seventh holes and parred the other five.
Ryan Ackert had a 41, Collin Smith 43 and Zach Cioffi 46 for the Spartans.
“There was plenty of competitive and quality golf from all four teams today,” Spackenkill coach Keith Humphrey said. “Our team worked very hard this year to stay strong in the league and have a chance for another MHAL title. I am very proud of how dedicated my players were throughout the season to improve all aspects of their game for the team.”
Travis Hornbeck shot a 1-over 37 to lead Rondout, which also got a 44 from Jeffrey Shaver and 45s from Branch Cranfield and Brennan O’Connell.
Jeff Peters’ 38 led Roosevelt. Zack Plambeck had a 45, Max LaFalce added a 51 and Jake Rand carded a 52 to round out the Presidents’ scorers.
Mitchell Wiemer (42), Tyler Schaad (43), Pat Kyle (45) and Colby Whalen (53) paced Millbrook.
All of the MHAL golfers converge at Apple Greens next Thursday for the Section 9 qualifying tournament.
